Harvesting it requires both skill and respect for nature, as the plant needs around *30 years* to mature before the burl is suitable for pipe making. <\/p><p>Once harvested, the briar undergoes a lengthy preparation process. It is first boiled to remove natural resins and impurities, then carefully dried and cured for an extended period.
